| Over the weekend my fiancé has permanently added a Canon 100mm f/2.8 macro lens and a Canon Speedlite 580EX II flash to my list of camera gear... and a friend from the photo club upgraded his Canon 17-40 F4 L to a 16-35 F2.8 L so I bought the 17-40 off of him... anyway i'm sure the new gear will spice things up around here :) As for this photo, well the weather here in Ottawa was pretty nasty (30+ cm of snow) so I took advantage of the fact that we have a Poinsettia and tested the macro lens on it. Macro lenses are really cool but the area that's in focus is really shallow so it takes a bit of practice to get things the way you want them. I like this one but I wonder what it would have looked like if I had sprayed a mist of water on it. |
